We are currently looking for more great residents just like you! When you refer a friend to live on-post, you will receive $300 when they move in until December 23, 2015. We are pleased to provide you with a number of amenities within our communities and encourage you to utilize these as an extension of your living areas. However, recently we have seen an increase in vandalism in neighborhood bus stops and playgrounds. We do recognize it is a small group of people misbehaving and know the vast majority of our residents take pride in their homes and neighborhood. We ask that all residents assist in keeping the communities clean, free of vandalism and ensuring the proper supervision of your children.
If you know something that could help with the investigation or witness any suspicious or inappropriate activity, please contact the Community Office team in person or by phone. If you observe questionable activities after regular business hours, please continue to contact the MP’s at (580) 442-2101 or dial 911, and contact your Community Office as soon as possible. We appreciate your assistance in maintaining the safety and integrity of our communities.
Your feedback is very important to us. Through your suggestions we find ways to improve our service for all residents. That’s why we’ve implemented several changes to improve our customer service our residents are receiving.
With your advice, our maintenance technicians are placing a courtesy call to residents who request one, prior to arriving at the home to perform any maintenance work. Also, our team has implemented a new structure to ensure all follow up is completed on work orders and to provide clear communication to our residents. Residents will be contacted by our maintenance office staff for any work orders that need additional follow up and will be provided timelines for the completion of any outstanding work that needs to be completed.

What to do when you’re ready to move?
- Getting ready to PCS? Deploy? Retire? Make sure to stop by the Community Office to provide a 30-day notice, along with a copy of your orders.
- Ensure you have a smooth transition by following these steps once you are ready to move:
- Complete a Notice to Vacate Form and schedule a final inspection at least 30 days prior to move out with your Community Office
- Attend a Move-Out Session Briefing with your Community Office. Briefings are held weekly at Southern Plains Community Center from 4-5 pm every Tuesday and from 10-11 am every Thursday at Old Cavalry Post Community Center.
- All personal items should be removed from the home and the home should be left surface clean
- If you have any questions about the move-out process, please stop by or call your Community Office and we’ll walk you through it.
Getting in the spirit
- Halloween and Christmas are major holidays for exterior decorations. A little friendly competition with the neighbors can make any street festive. Decorations can be displayed for up to 30 before a holiday, but must be removed from the exterior within two week following the holiday. Please review this article for more decorating guidelines.
It is time for a change!
- As we move into fall heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning system (HVAC) filters should be changed out in conjunction with the changing weather. Replacing your (HVAC) filter out every thirty days will assist with the overall performance of your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system and your overall energy consumption. Replacement filters are available by request.
Cold weather is quickly approaching, so here are some tips to get your house ready for the frigid months ahead.
- Turn off and drain your outside hose faucets. Leaving a hose connected to a spigot can result in water freezing the pipes inside your walls. When the exterior hose faucets are turned on, they will attempt to push water through and past any frozen sections, leading to an inevitable breaking of the pipes or hose and flooding inside your walls.
- Leave cabinets open to keep pipes warm. Pipes under sinks, like the kitchen and bathroom, or may not be insulated. Opening the cabinets circulates warm air from your home and helps prevent pipe bursts. Be sure to relocate any hazardous cleaning materials out of reach from small children.
- Use natural light to help heat your home. Open curtains and shades so the sun can warm your home. At night close the curtains and shades to help keep the heat in.
- Layer up. Heating in the winter months accounts for about 66 percent of a home’s energy consumption. Keep the thermostat around 68 degrees and wear sweaters, sweatshirts or blankets to keep comfortable
Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is touted as the biggest shopping day of the year and the beginning of the holiday shopping season. This can also be a stressful time, as gift giving can quickly “gobble” up your hard-earned money. Don’t fret – we’ve got some quick and easy tips to ensure that your many purchases don’t burn a hole in your wallet.
- Before you hit the stores, be aware of where your finances currently stand. Only purchase items that you are confident you can afford.
- Create a budget specifically for holiday shopping. Follow your budget as closely as possible, and track your spending. Need help? Contact the Financial Readiness Program at 580-442-2559.
- Ask for military discounts wherever you go. Even if stores do not advertise the discount, ask – you may be pleasantly surprised to hear the answer.
- Shop around. Look at the circulars for sales and discounts. Recognize a good price when you see one.
- Follow your gut instincts – if you think a potential gift is too much for you to spend, look for something else at a lower price.
- Cyber Monday, anyone? Check for last minute deals and steals online on Monday, November 30.
- Some of the best gifts come from the heart and cost nothing at all. Be creative!
- Don’t forget to stop, relax, and enjoy the season with your family and friends. That’s really what it is all about.

How can you save energy when cooking your Thanksgiving dinner? Don’t open the oven door while you’re cooking! Instead, turn on the oven light and check on your food through the oven window.
